Many people ask us for guidelines in regards to the 'Basish'(Tip) culture of Egypt.
This is not easy for us to explain. However; The salaries for the people who work
in the tourist industrie excist from a small basic salary. So, these people need
tips to get a full salary.
You do not have to give any tips to any place which have service charge.
For other situations;
Hotel porter: 5EGP
BellBoy: 15-20EGP
Roomservice 10EGP
Taxi in town: not needed
Transfers: about 15%
Guides: about 20% (if they not take you to any shops)
